Bridport & Thorne Weeks 28 & 29

Getting a good deal of biological recording and observation done - including an excellent trip to the Brecks last week-end with Tim Hodge - but I realise I have got behind with this blog.
So this update covers both weeks with the numbers below giving the situation at the end of week 29.

This weeks photo was also a bit of a rushed job and is of a Peacock butterfly at Thorne this afternoon.

The photo this week is of a Privet Hawk-moth (a bit out of focus as the camera seems to prefer to focus on the flowers behind!). It always surprises me that a moth this size can actual fit into the entrance of a Heath trap!

Bridport & Thorne Week 26

It's that time of the year when I am drowning in data that needs inputting hence the slight delay for this end of June update.

Very pleased to get Thorne (just!) over 700 by the end of June. Bridport continues to tick over at a much slower place. However Bridport does provide this weeks photo; An Orange Ladybird

The Orange Ladybird was in the moth trap and was actually a lifer. And then in the next 2 days I saw another 5 of them! They are clearly having a good year.
