With changeable weather and not so much time to visit the site I've been only trickling new species onto the list. At least a large proportion of them have been new to the reserve and some new to me. Add to that the fact that a few have been tricky to ID and that brought the pace way down. I don't mind that so much. I'm still in line with, or slightly better than, last year's numbers and the reserve list is rocketing towards a target of 2k (up 167 on last year!)
I'll probably aim for 700 by end of the month, with a brief holiday slowing things down even more. I reckon it's very unlikely that I'll beat Tim's fastest 1000 at this point.
Other things to watch out for is being only 3 away from 300 Lepidoptera and closing in on 200 flies.
