In the meantime here's some photos, and the first three are all full British tick beetles for me.
A good one for advocates of easy to remember and snappy vernacular names
Greater Thorn-tipped Longhorn Beetle
Pine Ladybird
Note - not photographed on pine
Rosemary Beetle
Found this on one of my garden lavendar plants, technically a tick as it's the first time I've found it, though I saw one last year that my youngest proudly brought home from school and stuck under my nose.
Up next will be a British tick, provided no one shouts up that I've got the ID wrong. But it's not a beetle.
Simulium sp. (poss. noelleri)
And some other bits, only the first being new for the year.
Vine Weevil
Harlequin Ladybird
Green Shieldbug
Hello,
ReplyDeleteDo you have a key for the Blackfly (simulid)?
Regards,
Andrew.
Fantastic pics again Mark - would love to get mine coming out like this. And would love to find that longhorn and the rosemary beetle. I do indeed have some rosemary, so perhaps I just haven't tried hard enough yet!
ReplyDeleteHello Andrew - sadly no, this was an off-line suggestion but I can see that it will have to go down as sp. for now (specimen retained).
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy - all thanks to the Raynox/Lumix FZ45 combo as usual. There are plenty of ditched duff shots!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteA pity, I was hoping there was a key floating about as I get these in my moth trap too. Nasty things apparently though.
Cheers,
Andrew.
There is a key (Davies I think, not at home to check) but not sure if still in print / available.
