SP5595ish

Whilst yesterday was quite productive, today I've been out of the square under obligation and putting a lot of strain on my less-than-youthful frame on a white-water rafting day out. Very thrilling, good fun, no ticks. Only additions last night / this morning was a Double-striped Pug in the moth traps and fly on the wall whilst I emptied them. Still no Chiffchaff in my square - paradoxically more Willow Warblers than I ever remember hearing around here.

Tephritis formosa - handily sat on the house wall this morning

Literally 100s of Pied Shieldbugs out yesterday

I also had a quick look in the stream yesterday, and managed to get down to the 'shore' to pull out a couple of stones. Found a few unidentifiable bits including this leech which I can't resolve -
the eyes don't look right for anything?

  1. After a late arrival, lots of Chiffs with me now but still not a single Willow Warbler. Amazing the difference that about 100 miles can make.

  2. Chiffy's singing on my birding patch which is only c1.5miles north of here - usually one holding territory on the embankment adjacent to my garden. I'm sure one will turn up soon, along with both whitethroats. A repeat of last year's one-day Sedge Warbler around the garden would be nice!
