Guernsey beetle query

Just a quick one. Tried to identify the beetle in the photo below found in my front garden (15mm long) and came up with Laemostenus complanatus. Am I along the right lines here? (I will buy a book soon - honest..)

    Agreed Mark. Another nice one for the Channel Islands. It's rare in Britain away from Scilly (which is the only place I've seen it).

    Excellent. Seems to be common here - this was one of three easily found under stuff in the garden.
