Pilning ST55/85-ish
Spring-like at last, with sunshine for much of the day and a heady 15 degrees C according to the car, 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. Shame about having to work but some forays into the garden produced a brief bumblebee sp, flyover Meadow Pipit, and Common Zebra-spider romping about on the wall. Hoping the moth trap might produce something after five blank nights on the trot. Additions in March so far have been:
Mistletoe on orchard trees
Rabbit (first mammal)
Buzzard
Common Mouse-ear (Cerastium fontanum) in flower
Springy Turf-moss (Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus) on the lawn
Grey Heron flying over the NW corner of the square
Common Rough Woodlouse (Porcellio scaber) when I finally made the effort to look under a plant pot (a spider got away though)
Common Zebra-spider (Salticus scenicus) a stripy female
Meadow PIpit heading north
Field Forget-me-not (Myosotis arvensis) in flower
Common Feather-moss (Kindbergia praelonga) identified from a Feb collection
Rustyback (Asplenium ceterach) one small plant with lots of Wall-rue by the church
Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) leaves only
