Good day today with 9 new species bringing the total up to 122 (but still a pile of unidentified mosses to vex me). Did a lot of turning things over and found the Pill Millipede
Glomeris marginata and the centipede
Cryptops hortensis:
|
G. marginata |
|
C. hortensis |
I also found lots of little white Collembola which various sites suggest are
Protaphorura armata.
Then I got lost in mosses - managed to get
Thamnobryum alopecorum quite easily but the rest evaded me (at least for now):
|
Fissidens (taxifolius?) |
|
? - not getting anywhere at all on this one |
Coal Tit, Yellowhammer, Lesser Celandine and King Alfred's Cakes were the best of the rest.
This will probably disappear into the ether having just noticed this while seeing if anyone else had come across a Fissidens. You'd need to look at the margins of the leaves for the former (under a microscope preferably).
ReplyDeleteThe second pic however is probably Funaria hygrometrica or one of the other few members of Funariales if they're in your area.
