Cullaloe LNR - made it to 700!

With a big effort in the last two days I managed to close out the 20 spp. it would take to get to 700 and then, with a following wind, managed also to overshoot a bit. I think Tim's May effort of last year probably is unassailable (pre-retirement!) but I should still finish my 1k earlier than last year and have a decent shot at the 1500 target I started with.

I'm struggling for nice pictures, to be honest, but here's a couple of the slime mould Hemitrichia pardina, which was on an Urtica(?) stem

  1. Glad you managed to get the 700.
re plants, I guess it's down to time, both actual time spent looking and accumulated experience.
I'm sure you could get 250 - 300 plants in any lowland square in Britain if you spend long enough looking. But of course that would mean less time for you to look at Diptera etc.

  2. Agreed, should be a decent reservoir of plants to bump you over 800 by month end. Plus all those inverts, so that's easily 900. But where to find the extra 100? PS Is "Small Hanky-weaver" even a real name? ;)

  3. Also - whack that moff trap out - there's your missing 100 :D

  4. Moth trap isn't even being moved off site! It's been in situ since February and I only take the battery for charging. Location is suboptimal but moths are going OK. The site has >300 vasculars but it's early days and I'm still adding new ones - really I know exactly where most are. Realistically I'm hoping to be pushing 900 by end of May and to complete 1k slightly earlier than last year
